What is Shopify Plus? Part 1 - Overview

This article is the first in a series of posts that will explore the features of Shopify Plus. Over the coming weeks and months, a number of articles will follow, each going into further detail on several of the features mentioned in this article.

Part 1 - An Overview

What is Shopify Plus?

When browsing the pricing page for Shopify’s hugely successful e-commerce platform, you’re met with three tiers; Basic, Standard and Advanced. As of 2019, Shopify currently powers over 800,000 online businesses, with the majority signed up to one of these three tiers. Costing $29/mo, $79/mo & $299/mo, respectively, the majority of businesses will find that the services and features offered in these three tiers are enough to fulfil their needs.

But what if your business requires more?

There is, however, a fourth tier- Shopify Plus.

As you’d expect, the higher the tier, the more comprehensive the features, and Shopify Plus is no different. Marketed as their enterprise tier, Shopify Plus offers a fully comprehensive e-commerce platform that is tailored to high-growth, high-volume clients.

When compared to the lower tiers, Plus is a significant step-up in almost every way. Whilst the cost is also a step-up, the enterprise-focused features, dedicated support and ability for mass customisation can quickly make the costs worthwhile.

This list only scratches the surface of Shopify Plus’s capabilities. When considering the integration of the various third-party apps and software supported, the power of Shopify Plus is hard to rival. And it’s ever-growing.

Last year, Shopify’s Augmented Reality feature was revealed and has proved effective with those using it seeing a stark improvement in conversion rates. More recently, however, is the announcement of video and 3D options that will be rolled out later this year, again, adding to the plethora of powerful features available to Plus merchants.

Shopify Plus isn't just for e-commerce giants.
